My first go at vectors. Tried experimenting a bit a long the way, e.g trying to keep a minimum number of paths without the face losing its appearance as...welll....as a face lol.
Colours were also anotherthing i was experimenting with. I wanted to use bright colours in this peice that contrasted well againstall the greays and whites, but didn't take your eyes away from the cactual face.... if ya no what i mean
i like the style, but i think some of the vectors could be stylized more, rather than looking like a photoshop cutout filter.
also, there are two things that i find uncomfortable about it.. it's the nose (maybe that harsh black line), and where the neck is dripping.. if it were mine i would tweak this before i make a print = ]

i think what gives some of the lines a 'photoshop cutout filter effect' is that they are wobbly where they don't necessarily have to be.. like for example on the lips and nose. if you work into the lines and experiment with simplifying while maintaining a proper facial structure you will find a balance that looks more pleasing = ] often, exageration and stylization are what define vector portraits -- like really neat eye lashes etc.
btw you have the eyes spot on xD i really like them
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
